This is one of the few landscapes I do in the studio, working from an earlier painting done on location in Frances Park near my home. About an hour afer beginning to paint on the site, an automatic sprinkler popped up and began spraying water about 10 feet from me, which I had to deflect with a palette board to avoid being drenched. A park employee came by and told me, laughing, that he couldn't turn it off. It quit about 45 minutes later.
